A lovely Louis XV style three part folding fire screen. The mahogany ribband carved frame encloses three needlepoint canvases, each with pastel designs of trailing ribbons, swags, leafage and flower arrangements on a soft yellow ground. The central panel features a mandolin,with sheet music, suggesting that this may have been created for a music room. The center panel is 43″x18″, the side panels, 35″ x 17″ each.

Georgian Fireplace Screen

An English oak handsomely carved warm weather fireplace screen with bright cheerful, and beautifully hand wrought needlepoint inset of a bouquet of roses, lilies and delphinium. The needlepoint does not appear to be as old as the frame, although it is old. It is in very good
condition, as is the screen except for a tiny chip to the carving at the upper right, which you can see. Take note of the carving , especially the legs and padded feet. This piece was wonderfully conceived, aesthetically, as well as structurally. 36″h x 22″w

Asian garden statue Of Guan Yin

Limestone statue, probably the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin ,from the private collection of the late Donald Neering. She stands 40″h and is on a 16″ separate plinth. There is remarkable definition to her features and to the drapery of her clothing, as well as to the detail of jewelry and head dress. Her facial expression is especially captivating, and what one would hope to see on a Goddess of her reputation! She has been mended at the neck and has a chip here and there, commensurate with her age, which I’m guessing is about 200.
A very special piece.

Pair of rosewood and ivory carvings

Pair of handsome ebonized rosewood and ivory carvings depicting Benton, the only feminine member of the seven gods of happiness, sometimes characterized as the goddess of understanding, or wealth, and of music. She is usually shown with a serpent, and with her musical instrument, the biwa. Each figure sits on separate finely carved openwork conforming base.

Renaissance Revival Chamber set ~ dresser

A Renaissance Revival Chamber suite consisting of bed, dresser and cabinet . The 2 part dresser is complete with candle holders, glove drawers and tall mirror with pedimented top. The pcs. are walnut with lavish use of burl, and design elements influenced by Greek architecture. These include columns, pilasters, floral scrolls in high relief, and bronze plaques depicting putti and ladies in Greek attire. 4 drawers include one hidden at base. 91″h, 51″w, 24″d. 1860-1885

Renaissance Revival Chamber suite ~ side stand

The bedside cabinet is very architectural, with especially fine proportion and detail. The fluted and ring turned columns extend from floor to top and burl walnut is used extensively to accent raised surfaces as well as sunken panels on the side. It consists of one birdseye maple -lined drawer with pencil fine dovetail , and cabinet below. Price is for three
piece suite.

The walnut bedstead ensuite with dresser and bedside cabinet features massive panels of burl walnut, fluted and ring turned columns, and applied bronze mounts in the neo-Greek style. It stands approx. 7′4″ and is 68″w. The footboard is 42″h. Interior measurements are 59″ x 84″. The top of the headboard is pedimented over a paneled cornice. The plaques are of a female in Grecian dress with putti. There is some minor loss to the foliate drapery beneath the placque.

Antique Majolica pedestal

Wonderful Antique Majolica pedestal in the manner of George Jones. Repairs to the base are of the staple variety and very old. These are at the very bottom. There is one old chip on the upper surface. 27″h x 14″ top d.

American Federal Tall Post Bedstead

This handsome mahogany bedstead was as the photos show, originally a 3/4 rope bed. The side rails were replaced, the originals used for extended top and foot rails, the headboard was also extended and the bed became a double. The tall posts are beautifully reeded and carved in the Salem style with swags and tassels, waterleaves, acanthus and wheat. These terminate at the frame and a shell carved cabriole leg and ball and claw foot form the lower leg. The ball is somewhat flattened and the toes are webbed . The scroll top
broken pediment headboard is shell and leaf carved. The domed canopy is a later replacement. Transitional Sheraton-Chippendale bed by fine Philadelphia maker ? or Marriage made in Heaven? Whatever, it is a wonderful bedstead! Recently restored.
