American Gothic Revival bureau of walnut and curly walnut veneers, with two over three drawers, turned quarter column pilasters terminating in ball feet, marble top, and a delightful Gothic arch mirror supported by beautifully turned columns. Gothic revival is not commonly found, and especially not signed by the maker. This ante bellum charmer is signed twice in pencil by John Jellife, preeminent cabinetmaker from New Jersey, as follows: from J.Jellife and co. 301 + 303 Broad St Newark, N.J.. And again, in a penciled flourish, “J.Jellife and Co.”
