Dressing table-Washstand
This gentleman’s dressing table or washstand bears the label of Brining and Bast Furniture and Undertakers Shop of Boonsboro, Md and is ex the estate of John H. Bast Jr., heir to,
and collector of fine antiques, and a cabinetmaker himself. The washstand is attributed to
Captain John Brining, cabinetmaker, founder of the original shop, and leader in the local militia! The fine American classical dressing table with ogee mirror is of richly figured maho-
gany with poplar secondary, a single drawer with original brasses and beautiful pencil fine dovetails. The legs are turned and terminate in ball feet. It measures 36″hx37″wx19″d. Add
25″ for the pillar supported mirror. Elegant Empire, c. 1830
