Early Delaware River Valley slat back chair
Delaware Valley blue-painted ladderback chair with five graduated serpentine slats, sausage-turned front legs terminating in ball feet, six stretchers, the center front stretcher a large, bold, bulbous vase-shaped turning. Sausage turnings on the back posts as well. The splint seat is in good condition, probably an old replacement. A regional form from the Delaware River Valley, this chair was found in West Virginia. C. 1750-1850
