Victorian settee ~ Sold
An exceedingly light and graceful example of French Rococo Revival. The serpentine frame is beautifully carved light walnut, and despite the sumptuous, robust foliate design and sinuous
curvaceous form it takes, it seems to strike the perfect balance, separating itself from the
overdone Victorian settees of this period. Someone has chosen the perfect fabric in white on
white repeating the pattern of the foliage. It was said to have been sold by M.S. Rau in New Orleans to the former owner. I don’t know who made it, but I give it an A. 72″l x38″h
